CHOIR

Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving; make music to our God on the harp - Psalms: 147:7

Let us come before Him and extol Him with music and song

The Mar Thoma Syrian tradition places a significant emphasis on music and worship, with choirs playing a vital role in the congregation's spiritual experience. The church's choir, known for its melodious renditions of traditional hymns and contemporary Christian songs, adds a vibrant dimension to the worship services.

The inception of the Christchurch Mar Thoma Parish Choir occurred in 2022 and presently comprises 13 committed members.

The choir meets regularly for practices on the 2nd Saturday and last Saturday of every month from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm at St.Barnabas Anglican Church hall. The Choir provides a way to worship God in songs during regular congregation services and adds to the overall spiritual experience for our parish.

Our parish choir is a testament to the gifted voices and unwavering commitment to the faith of its members.  Through their heart-touching renditions, this talented choir enhances the worship experience for the congregation, infusing each service with a sense of spiritual devotion.

During the Christmas season, the carols rendered by the Choir take centre stage; the choir performances of a combination of traditional and contemporary carols add a special and spiritually uplifting dimension to the congregation's celebrations. The beautiful carols sung by the choir help convey the message of love, joy, and the birth of Jesus Christ, enhancing the festive atmosphere and fostering a sense of community and togetherness among the congregation.
